Thomas Lee intended to furnish his summer home with a few comfortable chairs, but his creation became famous when he offered his design to his friend, Harry Bunnell who needed winter income and had a small carpentry shop where he could produce Thomas Lee's chair. He realized this log cabin furniture would be a profitable item to sell to the residents of Westport, NY during the summer months. Over 100 years later people all over the country recognize the Adirondack Chair as timeless authentic log furniture.
