In handcrafting
this high quality northern white cedar log furniture the wood is stacked in levels with spacers
and banded to allow air circulation and control warping and
twisting as much as possible. Round stock for log furniture is peeled then air
dried naturally for 2 to 3 weeks to attain only a 6% moisture
content. Flat stock is kiln dried for 1 to 2 weeks. Almost every
surface and edge of this log furniture is sanded.
Beveling also helps create smooth surfaces and splinter free
edges. Coated yellow zinc hardware is used for strength.
